I have a bypass scheduled in a few weeks and I want to know if there something I can do to strengthen my heart or make the recovery process better? What vitamins do you guys take for better heart health?

Hey Zara! Firstly, good luck with your surgery. I hope that it goes well. As for the preparation I think I should be able to help you a bit because my dad's also gotten a bypass last year and I overlooked his recovery. Firstly Im gonna tell you what to stay away from. Avoid choline as much as you can. Its mostly found in eggs and meat. Im not saying you should stop eating these foods but its better to eat them in moderation because they make sure that your blood doesn't get too thick and risk clotting. To build the health of your heart, eat good fats. Omega 3 is excellent and a good source for it is flax seed. Youll probably be able to find flax seed at your local organic store. Enzyme Q10 is a supplement that is also very good for heart health and my dad used to take it too. Ask your doc about this and he should be able to recommend the right dosage for you.
